Performing Opportunities for NMSU Students
The Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra consists of faculty, community and student musicians performing with guest solo artists from around the world; a select professional ensemble that performs a wide variety of literature from the standard orchestral repertoire. Principal players and artist faculty at NMSU provide leadership in the Orchestra. Each season the 70-member orchestra performs four pairs of Classical Concerts and one POPS concert.
Student Performance Stipends provide performing opportunities and career advancement to talented student musicians. Under the baton of Music Director/Conductor Dr. Lonnie Klein, student musicians perform alongside professionals and visiting guest solo artists in the orchestra, providing invaluable experience and contacts for their musical careers.
Students wishing to perform with the Symphony must be current students at New Mexico State University. Auditions with the Music Director are required for performance stipend consideration and membership in the orchestra.
