Dear Symphony Friends,

We are very excited about the 2011-2012 season of the Las Cruces Symphony at NMSU! Our program offerings feature repertoire from the 18th, 19th and 20th century, including works that have never been performed by our orchestra. Highlights include our opening Gala All-Orchestra, works by Barber, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Ives, Kodály, Strauss, Orff and Elgar (just to name a few), and world-class guest artists.
This year our Pops will be presented in the new Las Cruces Convention Center and will truly be a "pops" experience: Boston Pops style-with table seating, hors d'oeuvres, and libations. "Broadway Rocks!" is the theme with music from The Wiz, Hairspray, Rent, Lion King, Tommy and many more.
Don't miss this fun evening of great orchestral charts with top-notch New York Broadway singers.
Despite tough economic times, our orchestra continues to thrive; thank you for your continued, generous support of this wonderful ensemble. Special thanks to our Board and their dedication and hard work. Hats off to Donna Stryker for six years of tireless work on behalf of the Association and welcome to James Gerwels our incoming President.
Of course we are always grateful to our corporate and individual concert sponsors. Their substantial gifts provide the foundation for our programs year after year.
I am indeed passionate and committed to our symphony and serving the broader Las Cruces Community with stellar orchestral music.
Enjoy the season!
Lonnie
