LCSO at NMSU
Performing Opportunities for NMSU Students
The Las Cruces Symphony at NMSU is a unique arrangement of faculty artists, community musicians, talented students, and world-class guest artists. It is a select professional ensemble that performs a wide variety of literature from the standard orchestral repetoire. Each year the 70-member ensemble performs six Classical Concerts, a Pops Concert, and a Chamber Concert. Principal players and artist faculty at NMSU provide leadership in the Orchestra.
Student Performance Stipends provide invaluable performing opportunities and career advancement to talented student musicians. Under the baton of Music Director/Conductor Dr. Lonnie Klein, student musicians perform alongside professionals in a large orchestra and experience being on stage with renowned guest artists.
Students who wish to perform with the Symphony must be accepted for admission to New Mexico State University and audition for the LCSO Music Director. Auditions are required for performance stipend consideration and membership in the orchestra.
